We have created this EDI tool kit to provide helpful tools, documents, and information for other programs that may prove to be beneficial as you work through the EDI process.
- Notepad++: Is a free source text editor which supports several programs.
Using Notepad++ will allow you to open an 834 file in a format that is more legible. You can download Notepad++ at no cost via the following website; http://notepad-plus-plus.org/
- FTP: FTP is an acronym for File Transfer Protocol and is an easy way to transfer files.
FTP provides a direct path to the carrier website. The carrier will provide their FTP Credentials during testing and the Employee Navigators Self Service EDI product allows you the ability to transmit files using our automated FTP settings.
We do recommend, however, that you download a version of FTP Software as a back up. Filezilla is a recommended option because additional configuration is not required to use the program.
- PGP Encryption: PGP is an acronym for Pretty Good Privacy. PGP is an encryption program that provides cryptographic privacy and authentication for data communication.
Most carriers will request that you PGP Encrypt the files prior to transmitting. By using PGP encryption, you can send private or sensitive data which cannot be read without the key. Employee Navigators EDI Self Service Product offers PGP encryption, however we recommend that you obtain a PGP software program as a back up option.
