ACA requires dependent children who are 18 and under to have dental coverage. The Pediatric Dental (ACA) plan type supports the mandatory coverage requirement for all dependents 18 and under who are not enrolled under a separate dental plan. Dependents over 19 are ineligible to enroll in the Pediatric Dental plan. If coverage is declined for children 18 or under, the employee must certify and can add additional supporting details regarding the declination.
Note: If a dependent is enrolled in a dental plan, they will not be able to enroll in Pediatric dental. You would want to deselect the dependent from the Dental plan to allow them to enroll in the pediatric dental plan.
