When an employee salary changes, any enrolled benefits that are salary based will be updated as well. In the case of voluntary STD or voluntary LTD plan, the employee may change salary mid-year, but the benefit does not increase until policy anniversary. We added a new option in 05/13 which allows the plan to turn off the automatic update of the benefit when salary changes. This can be found by accessing the voluntary disability plan, selecting the Eligibility & Enrollment tab, and then the "Enrollment Options" sub-tab.
Important! By unchecking this box, the system will not trigger benefit updates due to salary changes. Currently, employee benefit amounts will only be updated according to new salary amounts when their voluntary disability page is saved in the enrollment flow during an OE period.
