Changing COBRA eligibility dates:
Employees who lose coverage due to a qualifying event are provided the option to elect COBRA coverage for a specific period based on the type of event. In certain cases, there may be state continuation available that provides additional months of COBRA eligibility.
Federal cobra- applies to companies with at least 20 full-time employees
State-based cobra- applies to companies that have less than 20 full-time employees. Although the system applies Federal COBRA, you do have the option within the COBRA Dashboard to adjust the Paid Through Dates.
If the COBRA eligibility needs to be adjusted on the COBRA enrollment editor, select “Modify” next to the currently enrolled COBRA plan. Update the eligible start or eligible end to make changes to the COBRA eligibility dates.
