Template companies are used as a repository for plans that your agency sells frequently. An agent can create templates which include the plan's general information that will be standard across any group, such as plan type, plan documents, communication details, plan service values, etc. The user will then be able to copy the plans down into their companies.
To create a template company go to your agency's Settings* tab > Companies and Plans and click 'add a new template company'. Then input a name, company ID and product type to save. Once created, you can start building out your plan shells under the Benefits tab - just as you would for any other company. You can also copy existing plans from your companies into your Settings* by clicking Add A Plan> copy a plan from another company.
To copy a plan from a template company (at the company level), click Add A Plan> copy a plan from a general agency template company. You will still need to complete the remaining pieces of that plan, such as plan dates, eligibility, etc.
It is important to note the below items regarding template plans...
- template plans don't need to be complete or activated
- template plans must have a plan type selected
- eligibility, benefit, cost rules based on class structures will not copy with the template and these rules will be skipped (if template contains class structure rules)
- cafeteria, HSA/HRA and universal template plans can't be copied at this time
Important! - Demo companies are NOT the same as template companies. By marking a company as a template company, certain pieces of the company configuration such as class structure and payroll setup are turned off. Template companies do not require these company configuration options. They are only used for storing plans.
*NOTE: The Marketplace tab at the agency level is now called Settings.
Why isn't my plan template displaying on the add a plan from My Marketplace+ list?
The plan type hasn't be selected. To fix, choose a plan type under the plan's Basic tab> Policy Information and resave.
