A Voluntary AD&D [VADD] plan can now restrict enrollment to those who are enrolled in a VL plan. Restrictions are established on the VADD plan, on the restrictions tab. Only those who have enrolled in the VL will be eligible to enroll in the VADD plan when restrictions are set. Once an employee or their dependents satisfy the enrollment requirements in the restricting plan, there are multiple configuration options help provide flexibility into plan design.
Require enrollment in this plan if restriction conditions are satisfied: Employees who enroll in the VL plan are not able to decline enrollment in the VADD plan.
Require participants enrolled in the select plans and/or benefit to enroll in this plan: All covered members enrolled in the VL plan must also take coverage in the VAD&D plan. For example, if employee and spouse enroll in the VL plan, when this option is selected, both must also take the VADD. When this option is not selected, the employee and spouse may elect VL and only the employee may elect to take VADD.
- No Restrictions: VADD benefit amounts can be up to plan maximum, without any limitations based on the VL benefit amounts.
- Cannot exceed restricted plan: VADD benefit must be equal to or below the VL elected benefit.
- Must match: VADD benefit must be equal to VL elected benefit.
